Grandpa Teddy

Theodore Thomas Hayward 10/10/1923 ~ 11/3/2007 Ted passed away Nov. 3, 2007 after an extended battle with congestive heart failure.He was born to Thomas Willard and Bertha Caroline Beck Hayward in Rupert, Idaho, Oct. 10, 1923. He attended Utah Agricultural College. While serving in the US Navy during World War II he married Maxine Murray. They had two children, Janet (Jim) Crook and Murray (Elona) Hayward. They had six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren. They were later divorced. Ted married Charmane Cutler Hill and helped her raise three more children; Bart (Gwen) Hill, Janale (Steve) Petty, and Dawn (Ernie) Freckleton. There were eight more grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Charmane passed away in 1995. While living alone in Woods Cross he invited a young couple to live with him. Soon Jaren and Janan Dyreng presented him with a new "granddaughter", Rachael. Ted was a lifelong professional driver. He spent 30 years with Hadley Auto Transport and after retiring he finished his career with Warner Freightliners. He loved seeing the country in 49 states and helping people along the way who were having problems. Ted married Carolyn Wright Gerber in 2001 and spent his final years in East Mill Creek. Carolyn has one daughter, Pamela (Gilbert) Talkington, and five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, who loved and appreciated Ted and his caring ways and sense of humor. His passions were driving, CB and Ham Radios, and the music of the war years. He also thoroughly enjoyed his work as an extra on the many episodes of "Touched by an Angel" with his friend Glen Brewer. Ted was an active member in the LDS Church and had held several callings. He was a High Priest at the time of his passing. His place here will be empty. "I love you three!" Funerals services will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, 2007, 11 a.m., at the East Mill Creek 11th Ward, 2702 E. Evergreen Ave (3435 S). Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., and also at the church Thursday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
